Evening Express Article on Fire

Tuesday, April 16, 2013

Nine months after a terrible fire that almost completely destroyed its workshop, popular independent garage A.W. Autotech is again fully operational and open for business.  During the early hours of August 12 last year, a huge fire spread from an adjacent building to the workshop – extensively damaging the premises.  Virtually all the equipment was consumed by the blaze.

After reconstruction, much hard work and a considerable amount of re-investment in servicing and repair facilities, A.W. Autotech reopened for business five weeks ago and many long-standing loyal customers have continued to return to the Aberdeen business for the maintenance and repair of their vehicles.

Proprietor Alan Wallace said: “We have had a long and very frustrating time since last August while we’ve been out of action.  I’d really like to thank our many customers for their forbearance.  Now we are back offering the same servicing and repair work.  The only goof thing about the fire, if you look at things positively, is that we’ve re-equipped the workshop with the very latest Auto Logic diagnostic systems which equal the facilities offered by main dealers.”
“So we can diagnose faults in the vast majority of cars on the road today to main dealer level, but without the cost.  We also specialise in the maintenance of BMW and Mini cars and have manufacturer-level diagnostics for both brands.  We remain an independent authorised Bosch Car Service and Repair Centre and probably have more technical equipment that many franchise dealerships.  As a member of the Bosch Car Service network everyone employed at A.W. Autotech works to an approved standard which ensures your peace of mind when entrusting your car to us.”

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has reported consumers no longer have to have their new car serviced by a franchise dealer to comply with the manufacturer’s warranty. Providing all work is performed exactly to manufacturer schedules and that only high-quality replacement parts are used, having a car serviced by an independent garage with the correct facilities does not affect the cover of a manufacturer warranty. So, if you own a car that remains covered by its warranty, why not try A.W. Autotech where you’ll gain exemplary workmanship at a very competitive cost?

In addition to servicing, the experienced technicians can provide re-charging and maintenance of vehicle air-conditioning systems, MOT testing and the supply and fitting of tyres with four-wheel alignment. They are also able to repair and replace braking systems clutches, batteries, cambelt and fanbelts. Just as before the fire, A.W. Autotech is the main dealer for Superchips in Aberdeen. Superchips ECU remaps will optimise the performance of your car, maximising driving pleasure. Engine tuning will change your driving experience and, depending on customer preferences, can either boost a car’s performance or improve fuel economy.

Mr Wallace added: “We’re extremely pleased to be back in business here at 67 Ardarroch Road, Aberdeen, and looking forward to greeting our loyal customers and meeting new people soon. Why not call us on (01224) 637274 or visit our website www.awautotech.co.uk.
